Jeremy Morgan, CB

Jeremy’s lifelong love of numbers and accounting goes all the way back to his earliest days of childhood. His grandfather John Cook (who happened to own his own accounting firm) was his hero and role model throughout his life, so naturally, from a young age, Jeremy would try to impress his grandfather by showing off his own impressive skills with numbers. Throughout high school and college, Jeremy was consistently placed in the most advanced mathematics courses, often being two full years younger than the majority of his classmates in those courses. In his senior year of high school, having already earned most of the credits required to graduate, he spent most of his school day apprenticing at two separate local accounting firms (one being his grandfather’s), learning invaluable lessons and honing his skillset in the field that would come to define his life.

He was accepted into the likes of Bentley University, Bryant University, and Boston College, to name a few, but ultimately chose to begin his undergraduate studies at Stonehill College with a focus in Accounting in 2003. Unfortunately for Jeremy, he was born (cursed?) with a naturally wandering spirit, and as such, when he doesn’t feel challenged, he tends to get restless. So, after only a year, he moved on to New York University (NYU). And then after another year, he moved on again, this time to Hofstra University. So, despite being enrolled in undergraduate studies in Accounting for nearly 4 years, he never actually attained a Bachelor’s Degree in the field because every time he transferred many of his credits did not transfer along with him. And as such, he got impatient with the process and decided to drop out. Despite not receiving a B.S. in Accounting, he has since spent nearly all of his adult life working directly or indirectly in the field, and in 2025 he passed the national exams for the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and is now recognized as a nationally Certified Bookkeeper, hence the post-nominal letters after his name, “CB.”

His extensive professional experience includes being the sole fully-remote, Full-Charge Bookkeeper for a medium-sized, multi-location (eleven in all and still growing even during the COVID-19 pandemic) corporate restaurant group located in the South. He was in that high-pressure role for over 8 years before accepting a Financial Controller role with a small, local construction company in Massachusetts. He was in that critical role up until he made the decision to embark on Morgan & Morgan Accounting Services with his mother, Mary.

Even in his free time, believe it or not, Jeremy is still usually working with numbers in some capacity. He may or may not be obsessed with fantasy sports, and as a result, he’s created his own statistical projections for each of the players every baseball and football season since 1999. He is, undoubtedly, obsessed with his cat Chloe, who is as needy and vocal as any dog out there. She has her own TikTok channel. Family is also very important to him. He adores the times he gets to spend with his sister, his step-mom Julie, his niece and nephew, his aunts, uncle, cousins…but most of all, his mother (who also happens to be his favorite human being). He’s so incredibly grateful and humbled by this unique opportunity to partner with her on this venture.

The only thing he may love as much as numbers are each of the Boston sports teams. Let’s Go Pats, Sox, C’s and B’s!

Mary Morgan

Mary’s journey to becoming a partner of this esteemed practice isn’t quite as linear as Jeremy’s was, but it’s still a remarkable one nonetheless. Born into a family of accountants, her father John Cook owned his own successful accounting practice for twenty plus years, while her Uncle Paul was the Accountant for the Town of Provincetown. She was destined to follow in their footsteps.

She enrolled in Bentley University (formerly Bentley College) in 1977 on the recommendation of her uncle, who himself had graduated from Bentley. She graduated in high standing in 1982 with two degrees, one in Accounting and one in General Business. Upon her graudation, she immediately started working full-time for her father and was his “right-hand (wo)man” up until the office closed its doors in 2003. From there, she transitioned into helping Steve Roderick and Roderick’s Payroll develop and grow its payroll and bookkeeping business to heights even bigger than her father was able to reach, right up until she moved out of the state in 2009.

When she moved to Missouri in 2009, she decided she was going to embark on a major career change. She worked in upper management for several major, corporate restaurant groups, Joe’s Crab Shack, TGI Friday’s, and Applebee’s. It was in this period that Mary was able to master her expertise in Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting Anaylsis. When she moved back to the Northeast to be closer to her grandkids, she worked in a similar role in the Food Department of a reputable hospital, UVM Medical Center. She was in this role right up until her and Jeremy decided to embark on this lifelong dream of theirs. She is extremely excited about the opportunity to be working with her son.

Mary loves animals, her family, and being outdoors. She is the proudest “Nammie” to her grandbabies, Sophia and Cameron. Her ideal day would include a National Park or campground and spending it with her grandbabies and her partner of 25+ years, Julie. In her free time, she loves playing any kind of game (board games especially), and despite her age she is still entirely too competitive. She has always loved a challenge and will not rest or settle until it’s been solved.
